How To Brew Toddy Coffee

For brewing with a Toddy you will need 1 lb. of coarsely ground coffee.
(Your Toddy was made to hold one pound of coffee and 9 cups of cold water.)

  1. Pour 1 cup of water into the Toddy.

  2. Add 1/2 of the 1 lb. of coffee.

  3. Slowly pour about 4 cups of water over the coffee grounds.  Take your time and be sure to get all of the grounds wet, you don't want to have any dry spots.

  4. Add the rest of your coffee.

  5. Slowly pour 3 cups of water into the Toddy, again making sure to wet all of the coffee grounds. At this point, you should have only added 8 cups of water.

  6. Wait five minutes, and add the last cup of water.

  7. DO NOT stir the coffee in the Toddy. If you must, you can use a spoon to lightly tap on the grounds at the top to be sure they are wet.

  8. Let your Toddy brew for 10-14 hours.

  9. Finally, drain the toddy into an airtight container (large glass jars work well) and you're done!
